Lupita Nyong’o Options Film Rights to Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Americanah

Saturday, May 31, 2014

Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has optioned the film rights to Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s novel Americanah.
Earlier this year, Adichie hinted about something big she was working on with Nyong’o but didn’t divulge any of the details. In an interview with Arise TV, Adichie said Nyong’o read the novel, loved it and that she would be making an announcement soon.
That announcement was officially made byAdichie at Stylist magazine’s Stylist Book Club that was held Thursday in the United Kingdom
Americanah is a love story that centers on a young man and woman from Nigeria who face difficult choices and challenges in the countries they come to call home. The book was selected as one of the 10 Best Books of 2013 by the editors of the New York Times Book Review and it won the 2013 National Book Critics Circle Award (Fiction).
Americanah will be Adichie’s second book adapted for the silver screen. Currently, Adichie’s Half of a Yellow Sun is playing in theaters and stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Thandie Newton.

I found this very hilarious and thought you should also see it.

Husband helper?

'Wanted' video: Mr Charles Novia rebuke Tiwa Savage, Uti Nwachukwu defend her

'Wanted' (video) by Tiwa Savage was released online yesterday and ever since a lot of her fans have criticized it, while some praised her effort.
Her husband after reading a lot of criticism says, he hopes one day people will praise him for changing the female music industry in Nigeria from the days of Kele Kele.
Charles Novia however thinks the video is nonsense and says Tiwa should have shown the acts she displayed to her husband in the bedroom.
He also said this to people who have been saying Nigerians are hypocrites;  ‘When you start exposing punanies and penises in the name of stupid art, then those shouting hypocrisy should let their children walk n***d to school’, lol.
In all Uti thinks Nigerians should shut up and even went as far as asking them how many of them have made their families proud. Hmm,

Full text of Democracy Day speech by President Goodluck Jonathan

Democracy Day 2014 Broadcast By President Goodluck Jonathan

Fellow Nigerians,
1. I greet and felicitate with you all, today, as we mark 15 years of uninterrupted democratic governance in our beloved country.
2. Our dear nation, Nigeria, has certainly come a long way and made notable progress since our first Democracy Day on May 29, 1999 when the military finally relinquished power and handed over to a democratically-elected government, marking the true beginning of a government of the people, by the people, for the people.”
3. Although I have ordered a low-key commemoration of this year’s Democracy Day in deference to the current mood of the nation, there can be no doubt that the past 15 years, the longest period of sustained democratic governance in our country, have been a blessing to us, as a people.
4. As we commemorate 15 years of our Fourth Republic today therefore, I believe that it is fitting that we pay tribute once again to all those who played a part in restoring our nation to the true path of democratic governance, built on the foundations of rule of law and freedom of expression.
5. As a result of our collective efforts since 1999, democratic governance is now entrenched in our nation and institutions. I wholeheartedly believe that our people are the better for it. The scope of fundamental rights and liberties enjoyed by our people over the past 15 years has been expanded beyond measure.
6. On my watch, we have witnessed high national economic growth rates, steady improvements and expansion of national infrastructure including airports and roads, the restoration of rail transportation, the efficient implementation of a roadmap for improved power supply, a revolutionary approach to agricultural production, as well as advances in education, sports, youth development, healthcare delivery, housing, water supply and other social services.
7. In the oil and gas sector, our promotion of a sustainable local content policy, continues to guarantee equity and better opportunities for Nigerian entrepreneurs and skilled personnel.
8. Significant increase in mobile telephone and national broadband penetration, making Information and Communications Technology (ICT) one of the fastest growing sectors of the Nigerian economy. We have also developed strong financial markets and regulatory institutions. Our banks now have regional and global footprints.
9. Nigeria has also gained recognition as the largest economy in Africa, the most preferred investment destination in the continent and in terms of returns on investment, the fourth in the world. We are pleased that the world has noticed, as global leaders converged in Abuja early this month for the World Economic Forum in Africa.
10. The event not only witnessed a record attendance, it brought the prospect of an additional flow of investment into the Nigerian economy estimated at over $68 billion over the next few years.
11. In foreign relations, our country has equally done well within this period, by establishing and strengthening strong partnerships with all ECOWAS countries and the rest of the world. This has helped to deepen Nigeria’s leadership role in multilateral institutions including the United Nations.
12. Furthermore, under this administration, we have made consistent progress in improving the standard of elections in our country to ensure that they are ever more credible and truly representative of the people’s free choice. The National Conference we initiated to deliberate and make recommendations on the best ways of resolving our current political and socio-economic challenges is on-going. It is our expectation that its outcomes will help to further consolidate the gains we have made from democracy in the past 15 years, and place our dear nation even more firmly on the path to greatness.
Dear Compatriots,
13. It is a sad fact that as I address you today, all the gains of the past 15 years of democratic governance in our country are threatened by the presence of international terrorism on our shores. Our dear country, Nigeria is facing a new challenge. A war has been unleashed on us. Extremist foreign elements, collaborating with some of our misguided citizens, are focused on an attempt to bring down our country and the democracy and freedom we cherish and celebrate today.
14. The despicable abduction of school girls from Chibok in Borno State has brought to the awareness of the entire world, the heartless brutality of these terrorists who want to instigate a descent into anarchy and balkanize our nation.
15. In recent years, terrorist attacks have claimed the lives of several of our compatriots, many have been injured or maimed, whole villages and communities have been destroyed and the economy of some of our states is in jeopardy.
16. There can be no doubt that what we are witnessing in Nigeria today is a manifestation of the same warped and ferocious world view that brought down the Twin Towers in New York, killed innocent persons in Boston and led to the murder of defenceless people in the Southern Russian city of Volgograd. Terrorist activities have brought war and pains to Mali, Somalia, Yemen, Syria, Afghanistan and Pakistan. These agents of evil continue to brainwash and incite ignorant young men and women to attack the innocent. We cannot allow this to continue.
17. I welcome the statements of solidarity from patriotic citizens and the global community in support of our efforts to stamp out terrorism. I applaud the understanding that in a democracy, such as we are building, people can have differences while sharing worthy values and standing together in opposition to the scourge of terrorism. Nigeria is the only country we have and we must all work to preserve it for present and future generations.
18. Despite the challenges we face, we must commend our security forces. We must not forget their gallantry and successes in liberating nations and in peacekeeping, from Liberia to Sierra Leone, Congo, Sudan, Mali, Guinea-Bissau and many places in Africa and beyond. Our forces have paid the supreme price in several places at several times.
19. Today, they face a different challenge, an unconventional war by terrorists. They are adjusting and are being equipped to tackle the new menace of terrorism. We must show confidence in their ability. I have no doubt that, with the support of Nigerians, our neighbours and the international community, we will reinforce our defence, free our girls and rid Nigeria of terrorists.
20. It is now 45 days since the horrifying abduction of the college girls of Chibok. I share the deep pain and anxiety of their parents and guardians and I assure them once again that government will continue to do everything possible to bring our daughters home.
21. I am determined to protect our democracy, our national unity and our political stability, by waging a total war against terrorism. The unity and stability of our country, and the protection of lives and property are non-negotiable. I have instructed our security forces to launch a full-scale operation to put an end to the impunity of terrorists on our soil.
22. I have also authorized the security forces to use any means necessary under the law to ensure that this is done. I assure you that Nigeria will be safe again, and that these thugs will be driven away – it will not happen overnight, but we will spare no effort to achieve this goal.
23. For our citizens who have joined hands with Al Qaeda and international terrorists in the misguided belief that violence can possibly solve their problems, our doors remain open to them for dialogue and reconciliation, if they renounce terrorism and embrace peace.
24. My government, while pursuing security measures, will explore all options, including readiness to accept unconditional renunciation of violence by insurgents, and to ensure their de-radicalization, rehabilitation and re-integration into the broader society.
Dear Compatriots,
25. We must remain united to win the war against terrorism. Christians, Moslems, farmers, fishermen, herdsmen, teachers, lawyers, clergy or clerics, the rich, the poor and Nigerians from all sections of the country must work together with our security agencies and armed forces to overcome the terrorists who now threaten all that we hold dear.
26. The war against terror may be difficult, but the days of peace will come again. Terror is evil; nowhere in history has evil endured forever. The menace of Boko Haram will surely come to an end. I believe that because of your prayers, your courage, hardwork, faith and sacrifice, we will ultimately prevail over the terrorists and all other evil forces.
27. We are a strong, resilient and courageous people. We will continue to partner with the civilized world, to confront international terrorism and every other challenge that comes our way with patriotic zeal and determination.
Fellow Nigerians,
28. Yes, we have challenges but we will surely overcome. Nigeria is our country. Nigeria is blessed. We will all collectively protect, defend and develop this country for ourselves, and our children.
29. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
30. Thank you and God bless Nigeria.

Nigerian military arrests suspected mastermind of Jos bombing

Wednesday, May 28, 2014

The Director of Defence Information, Maj.-Gen. Chris Olukolade, on Wednesday, said security agents had arrested one suspect in connection with the May 20 bombing in Jos Central Market, Plateau State.
He made the disclosure at a joint news conference by the National Information Centre, Abuja, where he said the suspect was already providing the lead for subsequent aspects of investigation into the incident.
According to him, security agencies are carrying out nationwide surveillance and that the surveillance is yielding positive results.
Olukolade said,”A number of persons, who are planning to continue the bombing spree, have also been arrested.
“But as a mark of vigilance of the security agencies, as well as the citizens who are giving useful information, the bomb planners were apprehended.
“Troops have continued to raid locations and in the course of which, a number of arrests have been made in places like Kachia in Kaduna State and Zamfara.”
The defence information director said arms and ammunition were recovered from the suspects, adding that the raid would continue so as to check violence in the country.
He also confirmed the killing of 25 security personnel, comprising 12 soldiers and 13 policemen at Buni Yadi town, Yobe, by the Boko Haram insurgents on Tuesday.
He said, “I wish to confirm to you that there was a massive attack on Buni Yadi town in Yobe, where some gallant soldiers and policemen lost their lives.
“The casualty stands at 12 soldiers and 13 policemen, as revealed by initial investigations into the incident.”

Meet the only Nigerian journalist with physical access to Boko Haram’s Shekau

Tuesday, May 27, 2014

Ahmad Salkida fled to Dubai on exile two years ago after being accused of being a Boko Haram sympathizer. He is the only neutral Nigerian civilian who has the ability to enter into a meeting with Abubakar Shekau and leave with his head still on his shoulders.
Salkida was flown back to Nigeria two weeks ago after written assurances from President Goodluck Jonathan that he would not be arrested. He was flown in due to the President’s commitment to bring the kidnapped Chibok girls back from Boko Haram captivity.
UK’s The Mail reports
“About 2,000 Boko Haram members are currently detained.
“One hundred non-combatant, low-level sympathisers were to be freed and the two groups brought together in a convoy of buses accompanied by a hand-picked go-between, respected Nigerian journalist Ahmad Salkida.
“The plan had been agreed in tortuous negotiations in response to worldwide outrage over a night-time raid on a school in the town of Chibok on April 14 when the girls were abducted from their dormitories.
“Mr Salkida was born in Borno State, where Boko Haram originated. He has known its leaders all his life and has unprecedented access.
“He has been arrested on several occasions accused of being a Boko Haram sympathiser, and he fled with his family to Dubai two years ago.
“But two weeks ago, he was summoned out of exile by President Jonathan’s aides. He initially feared he might face arrest, but was then given a letter of indemnity signed by the President when he flew to Nigeria.
“Sources said Mr Salkida was able to travel by taxi to the group’s forest camp to talk to Shekau two weeks ago. ‘His mission was secretive and dangerous,’ they said.
“He is probably the only civilian with access to Shekau. There is trust between them and Salkida had only one aim – to get the schoolgirls out.
“He reported afterwards that the group of girls he saw were alive and well, and being adequately fed and sheltered. They told him all they wanted was to go home.
“Salkida’s mission was complicated by the chaos surrounding government’s pronouncements about negotiations with the terrorist group.
“Shekau has released two shocking videos showing the girls dressed in hijabs and reciting verses from the Koran.”

The Bride Price app everyone is talking about

Bride Price App is a Q&A mobile web app that hilariously shows prospective suitors the amount that maybe required of them as a bride price for their potential spouses.

The mobile web app however begins with a disclaimer that the creator of the app doesn’t take responsibility for what its users do with it. The web app is suspected to have been created by Anakle, a Nigerian digital agency. Anakle CEO Editi Effiòng, who has yet admitted the development of viral web app, said “it’s a humorous aggregation of Nigerian marriage stereotypes.” “Not to be taken seriously, but that’s probably why the disclaimer was out there. Again, marriage is one of the most popular topics of Nigerian social media, so it was only a matter of time someone app-ed the topic.” Anakle CEO added.

#BringBackOurGirls: Jonathan called off the release of abducted girls - British tabloid

Monday, May 26, 2014

A British tabloid has accused Goodluck Jonathan of calling off the release of over 200 girls kidnapped from Chibok, Borno state. According to The Mail, over 200 female pupils abducted from a government school in Chibok, Borno state would have regained their freedom by now. But President Goodluck Jonathan called off a prisoner swap deal with their alleged abductors, Boko Haram at the last minute. See the rest of the report… Dubai-exiled Nigerian journalist, Ahmad Salkida — who reportedly fled to the United Arab Emirates last year following threats to his life on account of his closeness to the militants — was said to have been appointed by both the government and the extremists to broker an agreement for the release of the girls in exchange for Boko Haram members in detention. “Sources in the Nigerian capital Abuja described how Shekau had agreed to bring the girls out of their forest camps in the remote north-east of the country in the early morning and take them to a safe location for the prisoner swap,” the paper wrote. “They would have been dropped off in a village, one group at a time, and left there while their kidnappers disappeared. There was to be a signal to a mediator at another location to bring in the prisoners.” Curiously, the federal government was only expected to release 100 “non-combatant, low-level sympathisers” of Boko Haram, rather than commanders and foot soldiers, the newspaper reported. About 2000 Boko Haram members are said to be in detention. Accused of being a Boko Haram sympathiser, the Borno-born journalist has always insisted he only maintains a “professional relationship” with certain members of the group whom he knew long before it became violent. However, he was reportedly persuaded by the president’s aides to embark on a “secretive and dangerous” trip home to meet Shekau, after the president “personally signed a letter of indemnity” protecting him from arrest by security agents. But while attending the May 17, 2014 Paris terrorism summit with leaders of four African countries and representatives of the European Union, United Kingdom, and the United States of America, Jonathan called home to halt the deal, the paper said. The about-face, it is believed, has angered Shekau, raising fears that the girl might now be endangered. “The next video we see from the terrorists could show the girls being killed one by one,” The Mail on Sunday quoted an intelligence source as saying. The turnaround may as well spell the end of any peace deal with Boko Haram, as Salkida is about the group’s most-trusted and unbiased go-between with the federal government. “He is probably the only civilian with access to Shekau. There is trust between them and Salkida had only one aim — to get the schoolgirls out,” the source further said. “He reported afterwards that the group of girls he saw were alive and well, and being adequately fed and sheltered. They told him all they wanted was to go home.” Presidential spokesman Reuben Abati was quoted by the newspaper as saying he was not aware of any attempted plan.

FG spends N130b on Boko Haram –Okonjo-Iweala

Saturday, May 24, 2014

Federal Government yesterday said that it has so far released the sum of N130.7 billion of the 2014 bugdet to the military between January and April, this year.
Out of this amount, N86.9 billion is for personnel cost.
Briefing newsmen in Abuja, Co-ordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, said that the military is not captured in the Integrate Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS) and so the Federal Government disburses the money to them and they pay their salaries.
However, the Minister noted that the military needed an additional N24.8 billion which would be sourced from the president’s contingent funds.
“There were also other requirements they needed and we used Mr President contingent, we are for them as they needed extra N24.8 billion for their additional spending apart from their budgets. We are still processing it,” she said.
Also, the minister said that the late signing of the budget has not hampered the running of the economy because   Section 84 of the Constitution enables government to continue the implementation.
According to her, the constitution empowers the government to spend up to 50 per cent of the budget.
“The late signing has not hampered the running of the economy because what we have in Section 84 of the constitution enables us to continue implementation based on the unsigned budget where we can continue spending up to 50 per cent.  So, we have been able to continue running the country as a result of that. So, the effect of the delayed signing has remained minimal,” she noted.
Explaining the critical policies of the budget, the minister noted:  “On the housing sector, the mortgage refinancing within the economy is designed to support greater liquidity and we have been working so hard to put in place all relevant institutional framework and policies that will support and kick off additional mortgage refinancing in the economy.
In his remarks, the Director General, Budget Office, Dr Bright Okogu, said that said that the approved Medium Term Expenditure framework   has the benchmark of $77.5 per barrel in the 2014 budget while in 2013, it was $79 per barrel.
“Crude oil production was put at 2.388 million barrels per day compared to 2013 which was 2.53 million barrels per day. The production target for 2014 is a bit lower.
Exchange rate was maintained at N160/$US in 2014 same as we had in 2013.
Growth of real GDP is 6.75 per cent in 2014. Aggregate revenue for the entire federation for the three tiers of government before sharing formula will be applied
For 2014, we had aggregate revenue of N10.88 trillion with respect to what everybody will expect.  The share for the Federal government out of this, amounts to N3.73 trillion.
On the expenditure side, the 2014 as passed by the National Assembly comes with a total figure of N4.695 trillion.
In addition, SURE-P has N268.37 billion set aside for the issues relating to SURE-P activities. If you take these two together, it comes to N4.964 trillion in 2014 budget

Nigeria is a top investment destination for investors – US Secretary of Commerce

Friday, May 23, 2014

Ms. Penny Pritzker, the United States Secretary of Commerce has said that Nigeria now tops the list of the investment destination for American investors due to its unique positioning on the African continent. She said this at a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga, in Lagos yesterday. Some of the key US companies that had committed billions of dollars to the Nigerian economy are the global Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FCMG) company, Procter & Gamble, which recently opened a multi-billion naira factory in Agbara, Ogun State, as well as the world leading engineer company, GE, which is currently investing billions of Naira in an engineering factory in Cross River State. Aganga, speaking at the event yesterday, announced that Nigeria and the US had signed a $480 million power project to boost efficiency in the transmission and distribution of electricity in the country. Aganga explained that the partnership was a clear indication that the US was keen on playing a critical role in the nation’s National Industrial Revolution Plan (NIRP), stressing the need to increase investment flow into Nigeria from the world power. “We have agreed to partner US on a sectoral basis. To organise an investment forum in US where we would discuss areas of investment opportunities. Nigeria has been the first trading partner with the US in sub-Saharan Africa where we have supplied more than 12 per cent of their energy needs in terms of crude oil which accounted for more than 45 percent of our daily production,” he said. According to him, there is also the need for Nigeria to start moving away from just exporting its raw materials but developing and creating value in the oil and gas industry value chain. “Before now, oil export to the US was about $34 billion, but today, it has come down because America is planning to be self-sufficient in terms of energy, but we want to do top quality trade with America not just based on raw materials only,” he added. “We have had a productive meeting because this meeting marks the beginning of developing a stronger strategic partnership with the US,” the minister said. He stated that with the signing of the $480 million power project, he was convinced that the US was keen on partnering Nigeria to boost the nation’s power sector. He said as a result of this, the US Export Import bank had already allocated about $1.5 billion for American businesses interested in investing in Nigeria’s power sector. Pritzker, who led a delegation of about 25 US investors (mainly in the power sector) to Nigeria, commended President Goodluck Jonathan for initiating the NIRP, noting that American companies would leverage on it to invest in Africa’s biggest economy.

UN blacklists Boko Haram

The United Nation Security Council committee yesterday May 22nd blacklisted Islamic sect Boko haram after the Nigerian government on Wednesday May 21st made a request asking for the sect to be blacklisted.

A statement released by the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power says the move was to help close all avenue of funding received by Boko Haram members
"Today, the Security Council took an important step in support of the government of Nigeria’s efforts to defeat Boko Haram and hold its murderous leadership accountable for atrocities. By adding Boko Haram to the U.N.’s 1267 (al Qaeda) sanctions list, the Security Council has helped to close off important avenues of funding, travel and weapons to Boko Haram, and shown global unity against their savage actions,”
With this blacklisting, it makes it an offence for any country or individual to provide any form of support to Boko Haram. The group is now subject to an international asset freeze, travel ban and arms embargo.

Check your registration status, INEC tells voters

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Thursday in Abuja advised registered voters in 10 states on what they needed to do to ascertain their registration status.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Kayode Idowu, the commission advised them to visit the polling units where they previously registered to ascertain their status.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the voters are those in the 10 states under Phase One distribution of Permanent Voter Cards.
The statement said the advice was important as the PVCs distribution would hold from Friday, May 23 to Sunday, May 25.
It listed the concerned states as Taraba, Gombe, Zamfara, Kebbi, Benue, Kogi, Abia, Enugu, Akwa-Ibom and Bayelsa.
“Persons whose data have been appropriately captured will be handed their PVCs at the polling units in accordance with set procedures.
“Those with defective data, for whom PVCs have not been produced, will have the opportunity to re-register during the Continuous Voter Registration, which holds from May 28 to June 1,” the statement said.
It said that there would be a display of the valid register of voters at the polling units where the PVCs would be distributed.
“It is, thus, important for every voter to visit his/her polling unit within the time frame to ascertain his/her registration status.
“This is contrary to suggestions that persons in so-called ‘zero polling units’ need not show up,” the statement said.
It added that the CVR was for the categories of persons who turned 18 years after the last registration.
“It is also for persons who were 18 years at the time but did not present themselves for registration.
“Furthermore, the CRV is also for persons whose data were not adequately captured previously and for whom PVCs had not been produced,” the statement said.
It however cautioned that the exercise was not for everyone, including people wishing to transfer their registration data from where they previously registered.
“Those persons whose data were not adequately captured previously and those whom PVCs had not been produced should be calm and re-present themselves for registration during the CVR, to have their status regularised,” the statement said.

Nigerian Government ranks worst government in the world

Wednesday, May 21, 2014

The Jos bombings of Tuesday, May 20th, 2014 which claimed more than 200 lives according to latest counts, have pushed Nigeria to formally occupy the first position in the ranking of world nations with the worst governments in history.
Other criteria which recently moved Nigeria up the list include:

Corruption: With Nigeria’s leadership admitting that they could not account for up to or more than $20 billion dollars oil revenue earnings discovered missing in a single 18 month period examined; the nation’s finance minister admitting this to BBC and the official government engagement of Price water house international firm further confirming this financial mishap, Nigeria secured its position as the most haplessly corrupt nation in the post world war history of the world.

Poverty: The rebasing of Nigeria’s economy, setting Nigeria as the largest economy in Africa, while revealing the true economic position of Africa’s largest nation, simultaneously re-certified Nigeria as the nation in the top position for worst leadership in social welfare and opportunities for the people. With 70% of the nation living under a-dollar-a-day, economically factored, Nigeria has the poorest people of any nation in the world today.  With the rebased economy rating, Nigeria has the most unparalleled HDI (Human Development Index) to revenue and economy ratio of all nations. Poorest people in the Nigeria case, is derived from or correlates with poorest leadership.

Pollution: Despite new technologies of oil exploration, like fracking, pushing some ‘developed’ nations further down the chart due to increasing confirmed cases of drilling-related health hazards, Nigeria has secured its position as having the most polluted shore-line in the world, thanks to serial worst administrations. Gas flaring continues in Nigeria till date. Bayelsa state which currently reports 40 oil spills per month established itself as the most polluted piece of land on the earth in post world war history, approximating Hiroshima and Nagasaki and more recently Fukushima, in proportion of catastrophe. Nigeria ties with Japan as the two nations with the greatest levels of ecological pollution, though in terms of leadership attribution, Nigeria maintained the top spot.

Terror: Nigeria in 2014 reported the most dangerous events of high sea piracy in the world. Nigeria in the end of 2013 and 2014 surpassed Mexico in kidnapping, recording the cruelest and second highest single abduction event in recent history. In the end of 2013 and the first quarter of 2014, Nigeria surpassed Syria, Libya, Iraq and Central African Republic, CAR in worst and most deadly acts of terrorism and sectarian violence. The Nyanya bombing was ranked the fifth worst bombing of its kind in world history post 1970 by the Mineta Transportation Institute (MTI). The Jos bombing with over 200 reported dead in one attack, is second only to 9/11 and the disputed Syria chemical weapons attack. In combined values, with between 40-80,000 killed in the four years of largely unchecked Boko Haram violence, with over 4000 killed in the first quarter of 2014 alone, Nigeria has fast outpaced the world in deadly terror. Nigeria’s leadership in December of 2013 secured the world top position in insecurity and failure to protect life and discourage terror. Current rankings put Nigeria’s leadership second only to Hitler after surpassing Saddam Hussein, in the current century in terms of deliberate and government supervised internal wastage of life.

Boko Haram Is A CIA Covert Operation – Wikileaks

Tuesday, May 20, 2014

This is an article I found on The Africa Renaissance News According to the report, the CIA is responsible for the plague we know as Boko Haram. Read an excerpt of the report below...

We have already been regaled with reports provided by the Wikileaks which identified the US embassy in Nigeria as a forward operating base for wide and far reaching acts of subversion against Nigeria which include but not limited to eavesdropping on Nigerian government communication, financial espionage on leading Nigerians, support and funding of subversive groups and insurgents, sponsoring of divisive propaganda among the disparate groups of Nigeria and the use of visa blackmail to induce and coerce high ranking Nigerians into acting in favour of US interests.
But beyond what we know from the Wikileaks report, what many Nigerians do not know is that US embassy’s subversive activities in Nigeria fits into the long term US government’s well camouflaged policy of containment against Nigeria the ultimate goal of which is to eliminate Nigeria as a potential strategic rival to the US in the African continent.
According to wikileaks article on ACRI which potrays the ACRI as a counterweight which was set up by the US to instigate mistrust in Nigerian dominated ECOMOG; the sense of nigerian led anti-american opposition was first observed in during the bush administration, when nigeria without support from the west or UN led the first ever african intervention force on peacekeeping mission to Liberia while at the same time engaging serria loene in forced peace combat, with predominantly nigerian troops( over 90%) being spearheaded by then Military ruler Gen. Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida.
In this regard, the report further recalled Nigeria’s role in helping to liberate the southern African countries in the 70’s and 80’s in clear opposition and defiance to the interests of the United States and its western allies which resulted in setback for Western initiatives in Africa at the time.
Both concluded with a recommendation that the US Government in conjunction with its allies should seek to contain the growing influence of Nigeria in the sub-region by forming a parallel organization to ECOMOG. But in order not to unduly alarm and antagonize Nigeria which the report admitted still had considerable influence in the region, the US government was advised to go about this using quiet diplomacy and instigating false propaganda.
Years, later the CIA while tactically taking advantage of growing sectarian violence in Nigeria, recruited jobless Islamic extremist through Muslim and other traditional leaders offering training indirectly to the group by use of foreign based terror groups. A detailed analysis is done below:
Cia
However, there many dots left to be joined together to find the truth;
  • In December 2011 an Algerian based CIA wing gave out 40 million Naira as a planned Long term partnership with boko haram with PLEDGE TO DO MORE.
  • On June 29, 2009 a United States cable leaked by wikileaks showed that the CIA public predicted the onslaught of deadly terrorist attack by boko haram, i.e even 2 months before boko haram started terrorist actions.
  • Disregarding advices from experts the us armed Saudi Arabia who in turned armed Libyan rebels that in turn armed Malian rebels and Boko Haram, a chain tactically predicted by the CIA.  US=>SA=>LIBYA=>BOKO HARAM.
  • Spy files a wikileak document indicates that SS8 a surveillance company in the us was producing viruses(Trojans) that hijack individual computer and phones (iPhone, blackberry, android etc), take over the device, record its every use, movement,GPS info and even sights and sounds in the room it is in. This software was however bought by the and used as tools by the CIA in its eavesdropping games on Nigerian politicians, thus detecting corrupt practices. As good as that may sound, but whichever politician refused to hijack policies in favour of the US was made to face financial espionage or “corruption charges”.
  • It is however remarkably outstanding or rather coincidental how Nigerian SSS agents personal information, including address, bank information, mobile numbers, etc were leaked and published on the web when the sss where jointly working with the CIA to gather intelligence boko haram thus compromising the identity/security of the agents as well as that of their family.
  • it is also important to note the “miraculous escape of kabiru Sokoto” from a secret top security facility whose location was known to the CIA.
In the aftermath of the unfortunate bombings and sporadic attacks that took place in Damaturu the Yobe State capital and environs on the last Sallah Day, the Embassy of the United States in Nigeria hastily put out a public statement declaring that such like bombings should be expected in three well known hospitality establishments in Abuja the nation’s capital.
To discerning observers not only did that score high marks for bad manners as that was hardly what a nation still grieving and coming to terms with its losses expected from a supposedly friendly nation, but that the US embassy was being economical with information on what it actually knew about the incident, and more significantly, the role the US government itself has been playing in the whole gamut of acts of destabilization against Nigeria.
Today as Nigerians are reeling from the negative effects of the insurgency that has befallen our dear country and earnestly seeking answers to what all this portends for the future, the GREENWHITE COALITION a citizen’s watchdog can reveal the true nature of this silent, undeclared war of attrition waged against Nigeria by the Government of United States of America.

"I built my house from the scratch" - Duncan Mighty

Friday, May 16, 2014

In an interview with Punch published today, Port Harcourt first son, Duncan Mighty, called some of his colleagues out, saying a lot of them lead fake lives and lie about their acquisition...
“A lot of Nigerian artistes’ lead fake lives. They claim to be what they are not, just because they want to meet up their peers and fellow artistes. I live in my own house (it has a swimming pool, lounge and studio) and I make bold to say I didn’t buy it. I built it from the scratch. But a lot of these artistes will claim they bought a house for N300m or N400m. But I didn’t spend up to that amount to build my house. If you have that amount, say N500m, you don’t go and buy one property. There are many things to do with money. They claim they have state-of-the-art cars, but that is not my priority. I have choice cars, but it takes a lot of money to maintain such cars.”

70 Boko Haram Members Killed By Vigilante Group In Adamawa

Over 70 Boko Haram members have been killed and over seven captured by members of vigilante group in Madagali, Adamwa on Friday, May 16, 2014.
The terrorists were ambushed as they went in search for food before heading out for a major attack in the area, which is usually carried out at night.
The vigilante group acted after they were tipped off by a local food vendor that the Islamist extremists were coming to get food.
As soon as the insurgents, who were more than 100, showed up in the village to pick up their food, the vigilantes attacked them, shooting and killing many of them.
