President Jonathan's first photo appearance since after the elections

The Peace Accord Committee has congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat and congratulating his opponent and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari.

According to PremiumTimes, the chairman of the committee and former Head of State, Abdusalami Abubakar, who spoke to journalists after a closed-door meeting with the President, said the committee was spellbound when Mr. Buhari informed them that Mr. Jonathan had called to congratulate him.

“We were at the middle of a meeting with the international observers to try to see how we can still water the tension down, when gladly I called Gen. Buhari that we are going to see him,” Mr. Abubakar said. “He told me that Mr. President has called him at about 5:15 p.m. and congratulated him and conceded defeat.
“We were spellbound and the reason we have come here is to thank President Jonathan for this statesmanship. In the history of Nigeria, I think this is the first time where a contestant has called his rival to congratulate him and through this point, President Jonathan maintained a point that the blood of Nigerians is not worth his presidency and by his action he has proved that.
He has proved that he is a man of his word‎ because during our interaction on this peace committee he has always maintained that he is going to accept the result of the elections whichever way it is done. And he has proved this.”

The military allegedly shot a man this morning at INEC Office in Bauchi while trying to gain access into the office. Residents of the state had earlier barred the military from entering the office as results were being collated and this sparked the violence.

EFCC freezes Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka's bank accounts, orders his arrest

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has allegedly frozen all accounts of Enugu based priest, Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka.

Nairaland reports that the reverend while giving his sermon narrated to his congregation how he went to withdraw money to buy food items for the poor masses that moved from the  north because of the elections but to his surprise, his cheques were returned.

When he enquired why he could not make any withdrawals, he was told that the EFCC has directed his accounts to be frozen. He stated that the commission is also inviting him to their office in Port Harcourt for questioning.

The Reverend guessed the order may have come from President Goodluck Jonathan to cripple his activities during the election this weekend.

He further stated that he is not scared but in order to be cautious and not fall victim of assassination, he will not honour the invitation from the EFCC. "They have threatened to arrest me at the Cathedraticum which will take place at Holy Ghost Cathedral, Enugu," he said.

Facebook lover dies in a married man's arms

Monday, March 23, 2015

Christopher Ezekiel, who is currently being investigated by the Lagos State Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba over the death of his Facebook lover, Adekemi Faboro, has revealed how she died. He was arrested after Adekemi died during his visit to her apartment at 5, Folorunsho Street, off Ajayi Road, Ogba.

Recounting the incident that led to the victim’s death, the father of two said this was actually the second time he was visiting her house in Lagos. He said:

“I met her online sometime between September and October 2014 on facebook and we began to chat. Early this year she came to Sagamu to visit me and she spent two days with me. She actually came on Friday and went back to Lagos on Saturday.
I have an apartment where I work in Sagamu but my wife and children live in another apartment in Ibadan. I came to see her in Lagos around first week of March where I spent the weekend with her. This was the second time I visited her.
“On that fateful evening, we went out, spent quality time together and later retired to her apartment and slept. At about midnight, she began to complain about headache and then she started coughing. She coughed for a long while. It was when the coughing persisted that I had to go and knock on her next neighbours’ door to help me locate a nearby hospital, since I am not familiar with Lagos terrain.
So with the help of her neighbours, we went to a nearby private hospital (names withheld). After examining her condition, she was referred to the general hospital. At this time, her condition was getting worse, yet I did all I could to get her to the hospital.
With the assistance of her neighbours, we made it to Ifako General Hospital in Ogba. By the time they began to attend to her, she had passed on. I am not in any way responsible for her death.”
It was learned that the suspect’s wife who works with Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, in Ibadan, was at the State Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, last Wednesday to see her husband.

Confirming the incident, Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, told Vanguard autopsy would soon be conducted to determine the actual cause of the victim’s death as investigation continues.

Gov. Amaechi says Nyesom Wike pays Patience Jonathan $1m monthly

Rivers State Governor and Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has accused the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Chief Nyesom Wike, of giving $1m (N199m) monthly to the wife of the President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan.

Amaechi, who spoke on Saturday at a praise and worship session organised by the Ikwerre Youth Movement and Ikwerre Women Forum at Isiokpo, headquarters of the Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state, explained that Wike was giving the money to the President’s wife in order to gain
political favour.

PUNCH reports that the governor said:

“Do you know that the PDP governorship candidate, Nyesom Wike, has been giving one million dollars monthly to the wife of the President, Mrs Patience Jonathan? He has been doing this to gain political favour in the Presidency and to retain the favour.
For eight years, our Okrika brother (Senator George Sekibo) has been occupying the senate (Rivers East) seat and now it is the turn of an Ikwerre son, but Nyesom Wike has gone ahead to accept another four years for George Thompson Sekibo. This is not acceptable, Chief Andrew Uchendu will take over this time, one man called Nyesom Wike cannot sell Ikwerre birth right.”
He also accused Wike of sponsoring the killing of an APC member, who was shot dead recently in the home town of the PDP candidate, saying the police had been biased and could not arrest the PDP hoodlums who committed the murder.

Reacting, Wike, who spoke through his media aide, Mr. Simeon Nwakudu, described Amaechi’s allegation as false and asked him (Amaechi) to respond to the allegations of corruption against him.

He said:

“Our attention has been drawn to another desperate press statement issued by outgoing Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, where he falsely accused the Rivers PDP governorship candidate,   Nyesom Wike, of paying the First Lady, Patience Jonathan, one million US Dollars monthly.
This allegation is completely false and simply aimed at diverting the attention of the public from the monumental corruption under Amaechi’s leadership. Wike has always been an upright administrator and politician, who is committed to the development of Rivers State and Nigeria.
Wike has published documents of mass corruption in Government House, Port House, and the entire Rivers State Government under the guidance of Amaechi. The outgoing governor should respond to these documentary proofs of corruption, rather than cooking up false allegations to distract attention.
Amaechi has wasted over N3tn that have accrued to Rivers State, a large percentage of the funds being expended on the sponsorship of APC presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, and the APC.”

"APC is a party of rebels, insurgents and anarchists" - Rivers deputy governor says as he defects to PDP

Sunday, March 22, 2015

The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Tele Ikuru, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) from the All Progressives Congress, (APC). Mr Ikuru defected today, March 22, 2015 saying he has only forced himself to stay in the party but his conscience keeps prickling him and asking him to do the right thing. Read his defection speech when you continue below.

“Ever since, as the true nature and motives of APC are unveiled, I have continued to twist and turn in extreme mental and emotional agony.

“The more I struggle to belong, the more the Rivers man in me rejects the APC.

“After carefully studying, interacting and analyzing the leadership of the party, I have come to the sad conclusion that the APC is a party of rebels, insurgents and anarchists, clothed in robes of pretence and deceit. APC is a party founded on deception and it thrives on unholy propaganda and falsehood.

“I wash my hands off this treachery and in the light of the above, I wish to urge all My Supporters, the Good People of Rivers State to join hands with other well-meaning Nigerians to massively vote for President Goodluck Jonathan and the Transformation Agenda that has brought so much relief and succour to the greatest number of Nigerians.

“I also urge all Rivers People to vote for Mr Nyesom Wike (CON), who has shown by his antecedents, track records and boundless capabilities that he will deliver good governance to the People of Rivers State”.

DEATH THREAT: Enugu Bishops Meet Rev. Mbaka today

The Catholic Diocese of Enugu, which oversees the Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka-led Adoration Ministry, has said it will meet with the cleric today to investigate his claim that President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience, want him dead. This is as the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria on Saturday said Rev. Fr. Mbaka, had yet to report the said allegations to it.

Mbaka, who has repeatedly stated his opposition to the President’s re-election, had alleged during a sermon he delivered in his church, as seen in a recent video uploaded on YouTube last Sunday that President Jonathan and his wife want to kill him.

The controversial cleric had said:

“Let me say to the whole world that President Jonathan and his wife, Patience, are planning to assassinate Father Mbaka. It is a known secret, so whoever they want to use, I don’t know. They may not come themselves. They may use these unemployed people, the same people I am speaking for. I don’t know why people no longer have the fear of God. Do they think that killing Father Mbaka will make Jonathan and his wife win the election? Is Mbaka their problem?
In an interview with SUNDAY PUNCH on Saturday, a representative of the diocese, who declined to have his name in print, said investigations are ongoing to determine the legitimacy of Mbaka’s threat.
“We have had a meeting concerning the claim he made and we are doing something about it. We have to call him and he has to explain. We are going to have a meeting with him tomorrow (Sunday), after mass,” the representative said.
When asked if the diocese had made a report of the threat to the Inspector General of Police, the source said the Catholic body would take a decision based on its findings.
“It is after our meeting that we can take further action.”
On the Vatican’s involvement in the matter, the source added:
“What has the Vatican got to do with that? It is a local issue and the bishop is handling it. It has not reached the international level. We are handling it among ourselves. It (the threat) has not been confirmed. So, let us wait and see.”
Meanwhile, the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria on Saturday said Mbaka had yet to report the case to it. The organisation said:
“Goodluck (Jonathan) may have his faults but we don’t see him as a killer.”
The CSN said cases of such threats were usually reported to the Bishops who “may then advise a report to Catholic Secretariat and the security agencies if necessary.”

The Director of Church and Society in CSN and Executive Secretary, Catholic Caritas Foundation of Nigeria, an organ of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, Rev. Fr. Evaristus Bassey, made the clarifications in Abuja. He said:

“I am aware of it (Fr. Mbaka’s claim), though not the full details. I even heard a video was being produced for circulation. We at the Catholic Secretariat heard about the claim that President Jonathan and his wife are after his life, like everyone else.
“I am not aware of any such formal report. The Secretary-General (of CSN) would have told us. In any case, priests first and foremost report such issues to their Bishop, the Bishop may then advise a report to the Catholic Secretariat and the security agencies if necessary.”
Bassey also said no formal report had been made about the allegation, let alone taking the case to the Vatican.
“Like I said, I haven’t heard the Secretary-General say there was a formal report. We are hearing it like everybody else. Besides, the CSN may only come in if his Bishop thinks it is beyond him at some point. To involve the secretariat is to involve the entire Bishops’ Conference, and this is something his Bishop may have the best competence to handle, along with the security forces,” he stated.
The Catholic Secretariat which said it could not say if the threats were genuine however said it does not believe that Jonathan would want “blood on his hands, let alone the blood of a man of God.”

According to Bassey, the church will continue to pray and work for peace.

“The Bishops had met with the Commander- in- Chief (Jonathan) severally in recent months, to express concern about the security situation. This is not just about Boko Haram, thank God it is being handled; but also security against armed robbery, kidnapping, political violence, and security generally as a feature of good governance.
The Bishops have been urging citizens to be more security conscious. As for the Fr. Mbaka issue, like I said, the diocese he belongs to, through his Bishop is best positioned to give a direction and or take immediate action if necessary,” Fr. Bassey emphasised.

PHOTOS: Meet the Jamaican artiste who had a surgery to have horns implanted on his head

Friday, March 20, 2015

Dancehall artiste Furtyle Brain got goat horns implanted into his head so he can stand out and be a bigger artiste.

29-year-old Furtyle whose real name is Kenardo André Robinson, said the implants were done in Jamaica by a Canadian-based surgeon.

"It's really the process where the implants are implanted in the skull. I was sedated during the surgery but had to be given lots of painkillers when I was revived because it is very painful," he said.
On why he did the surgery which has come with a lot of backlash, he said:
"I do believe that I got some form of prophetic instruction by God. I didn't do this alone. There are some people who think that I am demonic, but it doesn't bother me much as I am not the first artiste who is picked on. There are others who have done far less than I have done and have received a backlashing and bashing." he said.

"Don’t be afraid of jail" - Aisha Buhari tells Patience Jonathan

The wife of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hajia Aishat Buhari has advised Dame Patience Jonathan that she needs not fear jail, should her husband be voted President come March 28, 2015 as Nigerians only want a change in the way the country is being governed.

It will be recalled that the first lady, has been campaigning that General Buhari will jail his political opponents if elected President in the March 28 election.

Mrs. Buhari spoke yesterday at a mega rally in Benin, where she interacted with women in Edo State.

“Each zone of the country has its peculiar problems. For me in this zone, girl-child trafficking should be considered one of our problems, though I know there is unemployment. Unemployment is the major factor that contributes to brain drain and also the girl-child trafficking. General Muhammadu Buhari is a leader who led Nigeria some decades ago and he is coming back now to sanitise the system.

“For those that are campaigning, saying that he is coming to jail Nigerians, I don’t know what their fear is. But they shouldn’t be afraid, because we are all yearning for change. The insecurity in the country, the very poor healthcare system, lack of education and other basic necessities that people are lacking I believe Nigerians need somebody like General Muhammadu Buhari now.

“Already, they have painted him black, using religion. I’m happy today that Nigerians realise that they use religion as a cover to loot Nigeria. Any politician who talks to you about religion is a liar, he only wants to loot the treasury and the little resources you ought to enjoy. So say no to politics merging it with religion to deceive the people.

“I’m here today to let Edo women know that when my husband is elected into office as President, all these will be history. The insecurity, the girl-child trafficking, suffering of the widows in the South East will come to an end. There must be a cultural design that can accommodate the widow. A design that would make the girl-child comfortable wherever she is in this country. She doesn’t have to leave her country to go and prostitute elsewhere, it’s not her portion. Her portion is to have a highly standard and moral society for her to live in. Get married, have children, train them and also mould them to become the future leaders.

“We are here today to also let you know that the collection of your PVCs is important and don’t ever sell it. It’s like selling your future. If you sell it for N5,000, you won’t see N5,000 again until after four years which will be bad. Get your PVC, vote for APC, vote for freedom, vote for a new Nigeria with good security, good education, good healthcare, good roads and all the basic necessities,” she said.

Randy man's penis bitten off by wife's friend during oral sex

Florin Ionita, 53, was found by his wife with his trousers around his ankles clutching his private parts and moaning in pain in a local park.

She said: "I was at a picnic with my husband and some friends and I left to take some of them home in our car, leaving him behind with one friend.

"When I came back I saw him with his trousers around his ankles clutching his private parts and saying  Call an ambulance, it is going to fall off'."

When she demanded to know what had happened she found that her husband had allegedly tried to force himself on her friend.

He is accused of pulling his trousers down and showing her his private parts before she responded by biting him on the penis.

The man's wife Maria, 49, said she had forgiven her husband for the alleged incident, "as he was only trying to do what all men try to do, but when I called the ambulance I didn't do it too fast, and I told them not to hurry."

She also did not give the ambulance drivers very clear directions to the place in the park in Chisinau, the capital of the Republic of Moldova, where her husband was waiting in agony.

The friend meanwhile has reported the man to police, accusing him of attempting to assault her. After he has been released from hospital, he will be quizzed and could face up to five years in jail if convicted.

He told his wife: "I just wanted to pass the time pleasantly."

Adrian Jovmir, the press officer of the Chisinau City Police Department, said that the woman who apparently bit him was a 24-year-old.

She had told police that he had tried to force himself on her and biting him seemed to be the only way to make him lose interest.

6,000 pastors endorse Gen. Muhammadu Buhari

Thursday, March 19, 2015

6,000 pastors in the South-West have endorsed the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Major General Muhammadu Buhari as president in the forthcoming elections, while rejecting President Goodluck Jonathan.

PM News reports that the pastors were acting by divine intervention from God who told them that Buhari would be the next president of Nigeria, pointing out that they were not bribed by anybody to support Buhari.

The pastors under the aegis of Christians for Governance, Pastors For Change have also declared a seven day praying and fasting for God to grant the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate victory at the poll.

The pastors, drawn from various churches, such as the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Catholic, Orthodox, among others have openly endorsed Buhari and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, his running mate at a news conference in Ikeja, Lagos.

Addressing the news conference, Bishop Kayode Williams, National Coordinator, Christians for Good Governance, said: “We want to observe seven days of special prayer on the seven mountains in the Southwest political zones comprising six states to pray for the victory of Buhari and Osinbajo in the 28 March presidential election.

“We are using this opportunity to call on all pastors who believe that the time has surely come for change in Nigeria to exhort, mobilise, instruct and direct all our members from our churches, numbering 186,000 churches in the Southwest zone to adhere to this divine instruction from God.

“We shall intensify our intercessory prayers to God so that there will be peace in the nation and that the election will be free, transparent and peaceful. We are asking our archbishops, evangelists, elders, deacons and deaconesses to join hands and make sure that the prayer programme is very successful.”

He noted that the present leadership had failed the nation, adding that Nigerians had hoped for improvement in various sectors but nothing has been done and that is why the group is calling for change.

“No one can do the same thing and expect different result. Nigerians must therefore get a change in baton. It appears that many people at the top do not feel what an ordinary Nigerian feels: No job, no money, no light, health problem, sorrow and frustration everyday due to massive corruption at the top. All these must change. Nigerians deserve good life in the midst of all the resources that God has endowed us with,” Williams stated.

Speaking on the N7 billion bribery allegation against the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), he denied knowledge of any money collected, but added that every rumour has an element of truth.

The movement is being supported by Rev. Moses Iloh, Archbishop Magnus Atilade, Ayo Opadokun and many other bigwigs in Christendom.

Wednesday, March 18, 2015

The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke has sued 11 organizations and individuals over the missing $20billion oil funds.

She filed the suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja to restrain members of the media from linking her with the missing money.

It will be recalled that the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi reported that $20billion was  missing from the coffers of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

The defendants in the case are the All Progressives Congress (APC), Vanguard Media Limited and its editor, Mideno Bayagbon, Leadership Newspapers Group Limited and its editor Ekele Peter Agbo, Premium Times Services Limited and its editor in chief, Dapo Olorunyomi, and Vintage Press Limited and its editor, Lekan Otufodunrin.

Also joined in the application were the National Broadcasting Corporation and the Nigerian Press Council.

"Muhammadu Buhari’s wife deceiving Nigerian women" - Patience Jonathan

Mrs Patience Jonathan, says Aishat Buhari, wife of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been going about deceiving Nigerian women.

According to TheCableng, the first lady said this on Tuesday when the campaign train of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) women birthed in Ilorin, capital of Kwara state.

“Don’t be deceived. Don’t look at any woman that comes here; don’t listen. They are just deceiving themselves because out of the abundant of the heart, the mouth speaketh,” she said.
“Their husbands have said that they would not carry women along and that there is no office for the first lady but now they want to deceive Nigerian women and she has come out to say ‘My husband said it in error’. Don’t worry, I’ll carry on in the traditional way. “Any woman that comes, tell her to go back. Don’t let any Nigerian woman deceive you.”
The first lady said she ran into the entourage of Buhari’s wife at the airport but ordered her security details to avoid any possible problem. Alleging that the opposition party has been fomenting trouble, she advised women to shun violence and always embrace peace.
“I was in Edo state but before I got there, APC had gone. They went there just to make trouble,” she said.

“I want to go to Kwara, they are there. Why do you want to go to Kwara? It is to make trouble. Trouble is not good for women.
They ran to the airport so that PDP will clash with them, but I told my security people that I am Mama Peace, I don’t kill, I don’t stone people. Please let them go with their problems.

“It is not the women that are contesting elections but our husbands and all we can do is to pray for them to succeed. As wife of leaders, we should be careful and avoid allowing ourselves to be used.”
Buhari’s wife visited Kwara state on Monday.

11-year-old househelp raped to death in Abia State

Controversy surrounding the death of a minor, identified as Anwulika Nathan (an 11 year old girl) from Owo-Ahia Afor in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State in the house of her guardian has been reportedly causing ripples in the community.

Anwulika, the last female child of Mr. Chinenye Nathan, a civil servant in the Abia State civil service was said to be living with one of the Commissioners in the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commissions (ASOPADEC) family as their house help.

It was gathered that the commissioner after raping the girl to coma rushed her to New Era Hospital, along Niger road and some distance from Amuzukwu Primary and Secondary Schools where she later
died.

Sources who confirmed that the people of Owo-Ahia Afor were pained over the girl’s death told theNation that they were going to stop at nothing in deploying every measure to see that they get to the root of the matter.

Another source from the community who pleaded anonymity alleged that their daughter was raped to death by the ASOPADEC commissioner.

The source who confirmed that the police were already investigating the matter also accused the police of trying to sweep the matter under the carpet owing to the “powerful” nature of the commissioner in the state. According to the source:

“Sometime last week, we got a phone that Anurika Nathan, an 11year old from Owu Ahia Afor, who is living with one of the ASOPADEC Commissioners was raped to death. When we got to Umuahia, they were at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia. On reaching there, we saw her corpse in an ambulance covered with a T-Shirt with the inscription. One side of her body was open and we saw a lot of bruises on her knees, blood was coming out from her mouth and even from her private part.
After we waited for about an hour at the hospital, the young man (Commissioner) arrived with his official car and with the father of the deceased. They came in with a letter from New Era hospital, Umuahia stating the doctor’s report.
After a while, the Commissioner attempted to leave, but the woman IPO refused him going, insisting he must follow her to the police station (CPS, Umuahia). The man insisted he was going nowhere as he brandished an identity card showing the police woman that he is a Hon. Commissioner but the police woman stood her ground that he must go to the police station with her.
It was at that point that so many people gathered and with the assistance of the crowd, he was taken to the police station by keke after his driver refused to drive the car further. Before they left for the police station, there was a melo-drama at the hospital premises when the said Commissioner could not pay the ambulance driver for the services he rendered, but for the driver’s threat to dump the girl’s corpse into his own official car he (commissioner) was forced to pay the ambulance man”.
Continuing, the source added:
“Before this time, the wife of the commissioner who we understand works in the same office with the father of the Anwulika was crying and when asked why she was crying, she said that prior to that incident, the  girl went to school and came back from school with bruises and before they could take her to the hospital, she died in the process, adding that “from the hospital, we went to the police station and they tried to bail him (commissioner) out that day, but it was not possible.
Unfortunately, the girl was somehow related to a prominent man in Abia government and I believe if not for this, from the way things had been going, the man could have been off the hook.
But because of the man’s (commissioner) position in government, we (relations and families of the victim) are afraid that even the police would compromise dropping the matter.
We were able to come to the conclusion that the commissioner raped our sister to death because from the autopsy conducted, the cause of death was established to be rape.
Anwulika was living with the commissioner, she was his housemaid and he took her in January this year. It is not clear whether the girl died in the man’s house or at the hospital, but all we know is that the man took her to New Era hospital in his car but later brought her down to FMC in an ambulance and at FMC, medics there tried to ascertain the cause of the death of the girl, considering the bruises she had on her knees and blood that was gushing from her mouth and private part.
What we are calling for is for justice to prevail. The autopsy had been done at FMC which was confirmed at the CPS that the girl died as a result of rape.”
