Ebola virus risk in Osun State - To whom it may concern

There is an annual festival celebrated in Osun state, Southwest Nigeria, called the Osun Osogbo festival. This festival is celebrated along the Osun river, and it attracts thousands of people from different states all over the country. It is believed that the water from the river cures ailments, hence people are seen using gallons to fetch the river water, bathing there and others offering sacrifices to the gods.

This is however not a good time, at least, not with the current outbreak of Ebola virus.

If there are talks to postpone the resumption date of schools in the country, I think this situation is equally urgent. The festival should be delayed until the Ebola virus is contained in Nigeria, otherwise, we might have a serious case of possible Ebola outbreak!

This year's festival is scheduled to hold next week Friday, August 22nd, 2014.
