NIGERIA Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, yesterday, suspended its planned nationwide strike over the leadership crisis in the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, which was affecting smooth delivery of petroleum products.
NUPENG, in a statement by its General Secretary, Isaac Aberare in Lagos, said it was suspending the strike following the resolution of the leadership crisis in IPMAN which led to the emergence of Chief Obasi Lawson as the President.
It said: “We believe in the rule of law. That was why we demanded that the judgment of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, recognising Chief Obasi Lawson as the President of IPMAN must be respected.
“We wish the new IPMAN President the best as he pilots the affairs of the association to greater heights and put the necessary machineries in motion to restore credibility.”
