Jittery Abia Gov. Pays N83m, Rents Crowd To Humiliate Predecessor.

Facts have emerged on how Abia State Governor Theodore A. Orji allegedly paid a whooping N83 million to hire thugs to protest against his predecessor Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu who will be officially readmitted into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday.

The City Reporters gathered that T. A. Orji is worried the return of Kalu to the PDP may end his grip on the party structure in the state and scuttle his ambition to become a senator in 2015.

A source close to Abia state government said T. A. Orji has, aside spending N83 million so far on the planned phony protest, released an additional N3 million to his associates to position thugs who will demonstrate against the proposed readmission of Kalu into the PDP at a rally scheduled to hold in Enugu on Friday.

The source said the governor has been jittery since the news of Kalu’s return to PDP inundated the media and had hurriedly initiated a committee comprising two of his former local government transition panel chairmen, one Mr. Dan and another Mr. Ginger Onwusegbe, both of whom had a sharp disagreement over who should head the bogus protest.

The source said Onwusegbe had berated Dan for hijacking the big money “intimidation” project against Kalu from him and threatened to back out of the move prior to Thursday.

Our source attributed the recent arrest of Ebere Wabara, an editor with Sun newspaper, to some of the visible skirmishes of Abia State government to intimidate Kalu and his associates.

According to the source who would not want his identity published for fear of being victimized the governor, T. A. Orji, through his son Chinedum Orji, doled out N3 million to touts in Aba on Thursday to throw sachet water on Kalu at the Enugu rally.

The source also said the governor has equally instructed all selected beneficiaries of the purported Abia Youth Empowerment Programme cars and buses to drive down to Enugu on Friday in solidarity and join the rented crowd that would protest against Kalu’s return to PDP.

Chinedum Orji, we gathered, has reportedly threatened to retrieve the youth empowerment vehicle from any beneficiary who fails to join the rented crowd.

The source who made these revelations to The City
Reporters said he decided to reveal the plot because he believed Kalu’s return to the PDP would be a blessing and that politicians with sinister interests should not be allowed to stop such positive omen.

“The PDP should be happy that Kalu is coming back to a party that he had been at the forefront of since inception,” he said.

“Governor Orji knows that he cannot match the political strength of Kalu and that is why he is doing what he is doing today. He never knew when and how PDP was formed from Adam and should not assume to be bigger than the party’s national leaders.

“It is going to be a big shame to T. A. Orji if Kalu is readmitted into the party which of course is everyone’s prayer.”
