According to a report from Thisday newspapers, Boko Haram insurgents have taken over the town of Damboa in  Borno state, hoisting their flag as a show of their dominance in the territory.
The sect which has attacked the town twice in less than a month are said to have overrun the Nigerian army barracks in the town thereby leaving the town at their mercy.
The conquest of the town is said to be strategic as it is on the Biu/Maiduguri road thus making the major highways to Maiduguri impassable.
More details to follow.
