The Ebola pandemic has led host of the 2015 African Cup of Nations, Morocco, to withdraw from hosting.
The Moroccan government had asked CAF to let them host the 2017 edition or to push the tourney to 2016, but following no response from CAF, they have announced their withdrawal from the event.
A member of the Moroccan FA, who spoke anonymously, said
'Since CAF rejected all our requests and suggestions then we are forced to withdraw from hosting AFCON 2015 with immediate effect to preserve the safety of our citizens and for that we are prepared to take any consequences that comes with our actions'.
South Africa have been tipped to replace Morocco as the host, but they have also stated they will not be hosting the tourney.
AFCON 2015 will not be held here. 'That issue does not exist and CAF must discuss this matter with Morocco,’ SAFA chief Danny Jordaan said.
They deny the reports.
