Wife learns about husband's secret second wedding with photos on Facebook

Thursday, October 23, 2014

A wife discovered her husband of 17 years had secretly married another woman in a lavish £45,000 ceremony  - after she saw the new couple kissing on Facebook. Yvonne Gibney, 55, had been married to globe-trotting oil contractor Maurice Gibney for the best part of two decades.

But it was only when she checked Facebook and saw photographs of Mr Gibney, 49, dressed in a wedding suit and cuddling teacher Suzanne Prudhoe, that she learnt that her husband and father to her son had married another woman.

MailOnoine reports that, she learned that his family  - who were told that Mr and Mrs Gibney were divorced - had also attended the wedding held at the British embassy in the Arab state, and that her mother-in-law had walked her husband down the aisle.

The new wife
The father-of-three, who lives and works as a senior contractor for Oman Oil, pleaded guilty to bigamy at Wirral Magistrates' Court. He was handed a six-month prison sentence suspended for two years.
In an emotional statement read out in court, Mrs Gibney said:
'I loved him unconditionally and believed that love was reciprocated. I simply don't have the words to effectively convey the pain and hurt and sense of betrayal. I have to accept that my husband was unfaithful emotionally and physically for a prolonged period of time.'
Mrs Gibney told the court that she had been in 'daily' contact with her husband in the lead up to the illegal marriage and that he had exchanged 11 emails with her discussing bed linen - the day before his bigamous wedding.

When she tried to contact him on the big day, he was to have been 'unwell' but later claimed he had been cycling.
'I have tried to understand Maurice's actions. Let alone planning it and going to such extremes. Maurice gave the impression that he was fully committed to our marriage. I found out about the wedding by a few comments on Facebook that led through to other comments. I clicked on Suzanne Prudhoe's profile and saw as her Facebook profile her wedding day, kissing my husband in their wedding finery.
I had no knowledge of Suzanne Prudhoe's existence or relationship with my husband. It appeared she announced her engagement to my husband on Facebook in May 2012. To initiate into that bigamous marriage, my whole marriage became worthless.
If he had wanted a divorce we could have started proceedings years ago. All the pain inflicted was completely unnecessary. I feel the intensity could only be seen as deliberate intent to harm his family.'
Earlier Mrs Gibney told the court she had met her husband - who she said has a tax-free salary of £85k when she was deployed to Nigeria almost two decades ago.

THE VOICE: How to become more confident

Confidence or being confident is related to self-assurance, the expression or feeling of certainty. Self-confidence is extremely important in almost every aspect of our lives, yet so many people struggle to find it. Sadly, this can be a vicious circle – people who lack self-confidence can find it difficult to become successful.

Most people tend to lack self-confidence;  it could be confidence to tell someone how they feel, confidence to render a speech to a congregation, or confidence to 'defend' a written work (seminar or project). However, whatever the case, confidence is an essential part of life and it is a trait everyone should possess because without it, one maybe limited if not totally restricted from certain things.

The good news is that self-confidence can be learnt and developed. And whether you are working on your own self-confidence or others around to you, it is well worth the effort. Here are some steps one can take to become more confident in whatever one set out to do, or achieve.

Find something you are good at and keep improving
You become a better person when you master your skill, this boosts your confidence because you will be sure of your capability when it comes to your discipline.

Adopt a positive mindset and avoid negativities
That Mr. A ventured into a particular field and failed does not mean you cannot succeed in that area. Believe you can do it, tell yourself you can be better, and work towards achieving it. Stay positive. By all means, be optimistic!

Maintain eye contact with people when talking to them
This has a way of boosting self-confidence. When you maintain eye contact with someone you are talking with, you gain balance and you won’t easily be swayed.

Stick to your principles
This helps in building your stamina when it comes to dealing with people. You get to stand for a particular thing and it gradually becomes ingrained in you.

Avoid perfectionism
We learn from failure, not success. Mistakes are not such a bad thing, but you must be smart enough to profit from them, and strong enough to correct them. Perfectionism results when you try to do things without fault or mistake. This paralyses and also keeps you from accomplishing a set out goal.

Recognize your insecurities/Overcome shyness
Many insecurities, fears, and doubts stem from lack of understanding or lack of knowledge about something. The more you understand and know something, the more comfortable you will be, thus the less power your shyness will have over you. What makes you feel uncomfortable? What makes you feel shy? Identify this trait and when you do, work on it. This will go a long way in the improvement of your self-confidence.

Stop comparing yourself to others
Why think less of yourself? We all cannot be the same. Quit trying to be like someone else. You are a unique being, there is no other exactly like you. Love yourself and love what you do.

Do not feel intimidated
Do not feel despondent when it seems like your peers are ahead of you. Keep at what you do and strive to be the best you can.

We gain a sense of self-efficacy when we see ourselves mastering skills and achieving goals that matter in those skill areas. This is the confidence that when we learn and work hard in a particular area, we will succeed; and it is this type of confidence that leads people to accept difficult challenges, and persist in the face of setback.

As long as you keep stretching yourself (but not too much), you will find your self-confidence building apace. What's more, you will have earned your self-confidence because you have put in the hard graft necessary to be successful.

Prostitutes in Abuja given 48-hour ultimatum to vacate the city

prostitute

Prostitutes in the city of Abuja have been given a 48-hour ultimatum to vacate the city or face the full wrath of the law while men and women who patronise them will be punished with a death sentence. These strict measures were laid out by the Secretary for Social Development, Mrs. Blessing Onuh after an official visit to several locations known to witness heavy activity of prostitutes and their patrons in the Federal Capital Territory.

Mrs Onuh added that several other severe measures had been lined up after security agencies combed several red-light districts and made several arrests.

She noted that experiencing a decline in the scourge, the secretary noted that prostitution has metamorphosed from the conventional sedentary practice in local brothels to a sophisticated cartel of “runs babes” and the corporate realm.

She revealed that the ‘executive’ type now holds in many luxury hotels in the Abuja metropolis and the exquisite homes of the super-rich adding that notorious spots include Port Harcourt Crescent, off Gimbiya Street, Garki; Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent and Sheraton Junction in Wuse II; and virtually all the discotheques; even in poor neighbourhoods like Nyanyan, Mararaba and Gwagwa, little girls have joined the illicit trade.

“They parade a horde of half-unclad girls and women of various ages and sizes brazenly exposing themselves, while openly and desperately beckoning on motorists and passers-by to pick them for the night. They insult, poke rude jokes and pour vituperation on those who look at them scornfully or ignore them.Indeed, for Abuja’s affluent and powerful men, it has become commonplace to place order for these women on the street or import them from other states and even from far-flung countries in the Caribbean and Asian countries.

High-society social, political functions are incomplete without a harem of these shadowy women. The import of these is that the upsurge requires a holistic framework to be able to deal with this seemingly intractable scourge.”

Lagos strippers make up to N150k weekly

Tuesday, October 21, 2014

The man pictured above, Shina Eddo, is a popular nude club owner in Lagos. And he has made a rather shocking revelation about the benefits attached to being a stripper.

Shina says his strippers are happy girls and breadwinners of their respective families because they earn about N150k per week, and a total of N600k per month. In a recent interview with News Of The People, Shina made it known that these girls are majorly undergraduates who are well taken care of by him. Read details below...
'Actually the kind of money they make help them to take care of a lot of issues, like most of them are in school and you can imagine when you are in school and in a situation where you have to sleep with a guy to get 5/10 thousand or what have you, but here you don’t have to sleep with anyone.
In a strip club, all you have to do is lap dance a guy or sit on him. When you sit on him, you whine and he gives you money, some can give you N5000, some can give you N10,000, some can even give you N20,000, it depends.
In this place, a girl makes up to N150, 000 in a week. We open on Tuesdays to Sundays and we go off on Mondays. If a girl makes up to a N150,000 in a week, that is about N600,000 in a month and when she goes out to tell her friends that this is the kind of money she makes, her friend will want to come too and that is why they keep coming from different parts of the world.
So the kind of money they make here enables them to take care of their parents, some of them have kids, some of them help their siblings, those going to school take care of their school needs and sort a lot of issues for them.
We have accommodation here at no cost and they have all the freedom here, they are making good money and they catch all the fun. We have a clientele, the big boys come here, they come, they don’t pay anything for accommodation, they don’t pay for feeding, their welfare are well taken good care of and they make good money, so that is why they all keep tripping in.
Other girls all over Nigeria, once they hear what we pay them here, they keep coming in and we keep having them, we should have about 70 girls if I am not mistaken.'

Former Ekiti state governor bought N50m mattresses for his wife’s bedroom

The newly elected Governor of Ekiti state, Governor Ayo Fayose has revealed some of the
things his eyes have seen in the newly built government house.

According to him, in a statement by his Special Assistant Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the new government house was an act of insensitivity to the plight of Ekiti State people, many of whom cannot afford to feed once in a day. PREMIUM TIMES reports that the affluence the immediate past governor lived in while he was still the governor can be said to be alarming.

“When we visited the Government House for the first time yesterday, I was like: how I wish I can sell off this place or turn it to commercial use.“It is simply wicked for a governor to be more interested in this manner of ostentatious comfort at the expense of the people.“The bed on which Fayemi slept before he left government alone costs over N30 million!

“That of his wife costs over N20 million! “Between Fayemi and his wife, what was spent on their bedrooms, toilets and bathrooms will be in the region of N100 million.

“How can a responsible government use borrowed fund to provide this kind of luxury for the governor and his family alone in a state where a lot of people cannot afford to feed once in a day?

“People should ask the outgone governor what was really wrong with the abandoned governor’s lodge used by his (Fayemi) predecessors, the governor quizzed.

'Nigeria is Ebola-free' - WHO

Ebola Virus Disease

Nigeria and the World Health Organization were poised to declare the country free of Ebola on Monday, a containment victory in an outbreak that has stymied other countries’ response efforts.
The milestone was set for 9 a.m. local time or 4 a.m., E.T., 42 days since the last new case. The outbreak has killed more than 4,500 in West Africa is remains unchecked in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, so Nigeria is by no means immune to another outbreak.

“It’s possible to control Ebola. It’s possible to defeat Ebola. We’ve seen it here in Nigeria,” Nigerian Minister of Health Onyebuchi Chukwu told TIME. “If any cases emerge in the future, it will be considered—by international standards—a separate outbreak. If that happens, Nigeria will be ready and able to confront it exactly as we have done with this outbreak.”
For the WHO to declare Nigeria Ebola-free, the country had to make it 42 days with no new cases (double the incubation period), verify that it actively sought out all possible contacts, and show negative test results for any suspected cases.
Nigeria had 20 cases of Ebola after a Liberian-American man named Patrick Sawyer flew into Lagos collapsed at the airport. Health care workers treating Sawyer were infected, and as it spread it ultimately killed eight people, a low number next to the thousands of cases and deaths in other countries. Nigeria’s health system is considered more robust, but there was significant concern from experts that a case would pop up in one of the country’s dense-populated slums and catch fire.
