Contrary to reports that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, will be forced to leave office March 1, his Chief Secretary, Mr Kayode Idowu has denied that and asked how a man who is busy preparing for the forthcoming elections go on terminal leave. According to him, his boss is going nowhere and his appointment is not guided by civil service rules. Read what he has to say below...
“Jega is busy preparing for the elections and you are asking about terminal leave. Does anyone planning to conduct elections go on terminal leave? There is nothing like that.”
Idowu went ahead also saying in a Tv interview yesterday that, Jega’s appointment was not guided by civil service rules and would serve until the end of his tenure on June 30. The postponement of the elections would make INEC better prepared for the elections scheduled for March 28 and April 11, he said.
