I came into a deeply divided family - Bianca Ojukwu

I came into a deeply divided family - Bianca Ojukwu

Bianca Ojukwu has explained to a foreign based Journalist, Ekerete Udoh who now writes for Vanguard how her husband knew there would be crisis after his death and how he had made sure most of her inheritance is bequeathed to her by the Deed of Gift. So prior to his death, most of those gifts had already been registered under her name, she said.

Her words:

“I came into a deeply divided family – a lot of my husband’s relatives, I never saw physically before he died. Ojukwu Transport Company issues have been in court, they still have not resolved the issues concerning their father’s wealth, and this was an issue that started in 1966.. I am very comfortable if not for anything, for being the daughter of Chief C.C.Onoh, and my father took care of me, so the issue is not just about their family. But my husband was also a very serious person, so he anticipated all what is happening now by making sure that the most of my inheritance is bequeathed to me by the Deed of Gift, so prior to his death, most of those gifts had already been registered under my name.

But I will say that at the end of the day, it’s not a question of acquisition, all I am saying is that I am the only wife that he wedded, first and foremost, at the Kaduna registry as witnessed by his friend, the late Clement Akpamgbo, and we had a small reception after the event at Apo Quarters, in Abuja. After the registry marriage, we went through the Catholic marriage at Our Lady Queen of Nigeria Catholic Church in Abuja, and it was officiated by the then Arch Bishop Onaiyekan- then the Archbishop of Abuja Diocese.

We finally went through the full traditional marriage in my father’s compound that literally had all the traditional titled chiefs, paramount    rulers of the community in attendance. The five governors of the eastern states at the time were present, ambassadors were in attendance. The Abuja wedding for instance was almost a state wedding. So the evidence is there for all to see, and when you are faced with that situation, and you have been properly married, and you have off springs from that union, but purely because they want to cheat your offsprings of their inheritance, in addition to other things, by virtue of their being the youngest, any mother would do all she can to protect them. They have hurled all sorts of vitriol and outlandish claims about me - the most laughable has been what they claim that I was not legally married to my husband. I mean, this is a marriage that took place in 1994 and not 1884; so the evidence, the videos, media reports are there for everyone to see.”

Fennessy, 26 has part of her brain removed to stop seizures triggered by Neyo's voice

Friday, November 14, 2014

A mother has undergone surgery to remove part of her brain in a bid to stop crippling seizures which she claims are triggered by the sound of Neyo's voice. Zoe Fennessy, 26, says within seconds of hearing his voice, she has an epileptic seizure which make her freeze, vomit and unable to react to the world around her.

The healthcare assistant has to wear earphones whenever she goes shopping just in case Neyo's  tunes are played in stores. Surgeons removed part of her left frontal lobe in June in a bid to stop the affliction. But the surgery was not successful and doctors now fear she may have the condition forever.

Miss Fennessy who has been unable to work for six months because of her affliction  told MailOnline
'I don't dislike Ne-Yo or his music, it just dislikes me unfortunately. I'll be walking around the supermarket doing my food shopping and I have to put my earphones in to listen to my own music just in case it comes on.
'It's the same with most shops. I have to walk in with my ear phones in at first just to make sure they don't have Ne-Yo on.If he ever releases a greatest hits album it's going to be a nightmare. Whenever I hear the first few beats of the song I have to drop whatever I am doing and run. 'People might think it is funny - and I can laugh at it myself - but it has taken over my life. It's ruined my life.'
It wasn't until she heard Ne-Yo's first big hit, Give Me Everything featuring Pitbull - which topped the charts in May 2011 - that she had her first music-induced seizure.
'It took me a while to realise that they were being triggered by his songs. It wasn't until I'd heard it for about the 15th time that it finally twigged what was going on.
The song was really popular and I went to my consultant and I said I know this sounds extremely bizarre, but every time I hear this song I have a seizure. He said it was fascinating and that he'd never heard anything like it. I stressed that while it might be fascinating, I was really struggling - the song was everywhere at the time.'

In June this year, Miss Fennessy endured a six-hour long operation to remove a huge chunk of her left temporal lobe where doctors thought all her seizures may originate. While the symptoms of her epilepsy have reduced, she still has a fit every time she hears Ne-Yo's voice.
'I have had to go up to DJs in places and say 'look can you not play Ne-Yo' and they just look at me like I'm an alien,' [Doctors] are saying it could possibly be something in the tone of his voice, something like that, but it doesn't happen when I hear Usher, or people like him who have a very similar sound. It is only him, only Ne-Yo.
Our holiday this year to Majorca was a nightmare. Honestly it was like being at a Ne-Yo concert - the song was everywhere. I had to stay in the hotel room for most of the holiday because it got so bad.'
She has been clinically diagnosed with 'musicogenic seizures'.

PHOTOS: The World Tallest Man meets the World Shortest Man

Thursday, November 13, 2014

The world's tallest man, Turkey's Sultan Kosen, who stands 2.51 metres (eight feet, nine inches) tall, today came face to face - well, face to shin - with the world's shortest man Chandra Bahadur Dangi from Nepal, who measures just 55 centimetres (21 and a half inches).

The little and large act met as people across the globe tried to break all manner of weird and wacky world records, including banging heads, catching spears and throwing thongs.

Kosen, a 31-year-old farmer, stooped down to shake hands with 74-year-old Dangi opposite the Houses of Parliament in London. He told AFP that meeting Chandra was "amazing", although he admitted bending the long, long way down for photographs was difficult.

"I was very interested how tall he was going to be, about how far up my legs he would go, and of course once I saw him I realised how tiny he was. I do have problems with myknees so if I stand too long I do get tired. Even though he is short and I am tall, we have had similar struggles throughout our lives and when I look into Chandra's eyes I can see he is a good man."

As well as being the tallest man, Kosen's hands are the biggest in the world -- an impressive 28.5 centimetres (11.22 inches) from the wrist to the tip of his middle finger.

Meanwhile Dangi, a primordial dwarf who makes placemats and head straps for villagers carrying heavy loads, is the shortest adult ever certified by Guinness World Records. He told AFP:

"I was very pleased to see the tallest man in the world, I was curious to meet my extreme opposite. I'm so pleased to be a Guinness record holder. Thanks to this I have visited many countries and met many people. I really love it."
The two men met today to celebrate the 10th annual Guinness World Records Day.

About what he would have become if he wasn’t a musician, Tuface continued:

“You know like I said, me and music, it wasn’t a co-incidence. So, I have never, never thought of doing anything else. But there was one point in time that I was really, really into football and na goal keeper I be dat time. So, I been dey think am say if music no work, I go just enter football just turn to goal keeper peacefully (Laughs).”
On what differentiates from other celebrities, he said:
“Hmmm! CNN rejects political adverts from Nigerian politicians

According to a report by The Cable, CNN recently turned down advertising bids from a Nigerian presidential aspirant for the upcoming elections in 2015. According to the report a consultant for an aspirant stated:

"We approached CNN agents in Nigeria to place some adverts for our principal. We sent the creatives to them as requested and they returned them, saying they do not run commercials that are intended to campaign for votes. We could not believe it,” a consultant to a presidential aspirant told The Cable.

Another, who is working for a state governor seeking re-election, said he had a similar experience."

This is interesting as we’re not sure exactly the details of what the ad would’ve said or if CNN just didn’t want to get involved with the politics of it all, especially now.

'I came to Nigeria to steal' - Ghanaian citizen confesses

'I came to Nigeria to steal' - Ghanaian citizen confesses

A Ghanaian citizen resident in Nigeria, Israel Nana has confessed that his mission to Nigeria was to dispose people of their valuable properties and become rich before going back to his country. 30-year-old Nana said he nearly accomplished his mission and was preparing to return to Ghana when he was arrested.

According to PMNews, Nana came to Nigeria five years ago and had been busy stealing and making money. He was a well known criminal in his home town in Kumasi, Ghana and because of his renowned notorious activities, he decided to relocate to Nigeria to continue his criminal activities.

On how he came to Nigeria, Nana said his friend who lives in Nigeria helped him secure passage into the country, adding that, immediately he got into Nigeria, he began stealing and later graduated to car snatching. He said since he came to Nigeria, he had lived in four cities in four states namely, Abuja, Lagos, Edo and Rivers.

He said he settled for car snatching because “you don’t need sophisticated weapon such as guns, pistol bullets etc to carry out the operation and it was easy to dispose the cars because a buyer was already ready to pay the money”. On the choice of cars he specialize in stealing, he said the demand are Toyota Cars especially Camry but Honda, Nissan Jeeps and others were also in high demand.
He said he was arrested in Rivers State after one Alhaji who buys stolen cars from him was arrested in Abuja a fortnight ago.

He said he was still surprised on what was happening to him because he never thought he would be arrested.

Nana is a member of the five-man gang car syndicate arrested by the Lagos State Anti-Robbery Squad for car snatching in Nigeria. They were paraded by the Lagos State Commissioner of police, Mr Kayode Aderanti at Ikeja, Lagos. Some of the vehicles stolen were also recovered across cities in Nigeria.

Man now leukaemia-free after being injected with HIV virus

HIV virus, the new cure for leukaemia?

According to DailyMail, Marshall Jensen of Utah, was one of 30 leukaemia patients to undergo a trial treatment at Penn Medicine recently, in which white blood cells are implanted with a harmless form of HIV programmed to target and kill cancer. The 30-year-old married father of one has so far responded well to the treatment and is now cancer-free for the first time in years.

The connection between leukaemia and HIV was first discovered in 2006, when an HIV-positive man named Timothy Wood was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia After receiving a bone marrow transplant from a donor with a rare genetic mutation, Wood's cancer went into remission and the HIV disappeared from his system making him the first man to ever be fully cured of the virus.

Since then, Dr June (doctor that treated Marshall) and his team have been working vigilantly on developing a HIV-based treatment for leukaemia and this October, published a study showing the therapy's success on 30 cancer patients.

The patients who received the treatment had billions of T-cells extracted from their body, which were taken to a lab and implanted with deactivated HIV. The 'serial killer' cells are then put back into the body to fight and kill cancer, and remain dormant until the cancer reappears.

While the idea of receiving a dose of HIV may seem scary to some, Dr June says there's nothing to fear about the stripped-down virus used in the treatment.

'It's a disabled virus, but it retains the one essential feature of HIV, which is the ability to insert new genes into cells,' Dr June explained.
Of the 30 leukaemia patients who received the treatment, comprised of five adults and 25 children, 23 are still alive and 19 are in remission. Seven-year-old Emma Whitehead was the first child to receive the treatment in 2012, and has been cancer-free for two years now.

Dr June and his team are now looking at using the HIV treatment to attack other forms of cancers, and will be starting trials this summer for pancreatic cancer patients.

Nigeria blasts US over Boko Haram

Disappointed by the refusal of the United States to help Nigeria procure military weapons to combat Boko Haram, the federal government has now openly expressed its dissatisfaction with the American government decision, arguing that the Americans were letting Nigeria down at her hour of need, Empowered Newswire reports.

While receiving a delegation of the U.S. Council on Foreign Relations yesterday, the Nigerian Ambassador to the United States, Professor Ade Adefuye said both the Nigerian people and the government feel abandoned by America.

“I am sad to inform you that the Nigerian leadership: military and political, and even the general populace, are not satisfied with the scope, nature and content of the United States’ support for us in our struggle against terrorists.”

“We find it difficult to understand how and why in spite of the U.S. presence in Nigeria with their sophisticated military technology, Boko Haram should be expanding and becoming more deadly”.

“The U.S. Government has up till today refused to grant Nigeria’s request to purchase lethal equipment that would have brought down the terrorists within a short time on the basis of the allegations that Nigeria’s defence forces have been violating human rights of Boko Haram suspects when captured or arrested.”

Indeed the US government had equally explained that it would not be selling military weapons to Nigeria due to human rights allegations against the Nigerian military.

But Mr. Adefuye, in his meeting with the Council on Foreign Relations, dismissed such allegations.

“A stable and secure Nigeria is an invaluable asset to America,” Mr. Adefuye concluded.

Bomb blast hits secondary school in Yobe, 47 confirmed dead, 79 injured

Monday, November 10, 2014

Many students are feared dead after a bomb went off during assembly this morning at Government Science & Technical Secondary School, Potiskum Yobe State. A teacher and a medic told AFP:
"The students had gathered for the morning assembly when something exploded in their midst with a thunderous sound‎ at exactly 7:50 am (0650 GMT). The explosion has affected many students but I can't say how many because we are now evacuating the victims to the hospital which is just 100 metres (yards) away," the teacher added, sobbing.
A medic at the Potiskum General Hospital where the victims were taken said scores of students had
been admitted.

"We are still receiving casualties from the school which is a stone's throw from here. Our priority now is to save the injured, so we have not started a headcount of the victims."
A local resident, Adamu Alkassim, said there was confusion in and around the school but the scene was a mass of abandoned footwear and blood. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack but Boko Haram militants are likely to be the prime suspects.

Lagos state Police arrest two boys for alleged homosexual act

Police arrest two boys in Lagos for homosexual act

The Lagos State Police Command have arrested two teenage boys, Gideon Harrison and Ifeanyi Ezeorji, for allegedly having sex with each other in the Ikotun area of Lagos.

Punch Metro learnt that while Harrison is 19 years old, Ezeorji is just 14. Our correspondent gathered that the two boys were arrested on October 23 by the Ikotun Police Division. According to the police, Harrison and Ezeorji had sex with each other through the anus, an act known as sodomy.

Our correspondent also gathered that while Ezeorji was a Senior Secondary School pupil 1 in Igando High School, Ikotun Road, Harrison had finished secondary school education.

Punch Metro learnt that the complainant, one Toheeb Adekunle, who stays on Muka Street, Ijegun Road and works inside the Ikotun Motor Park, caught the two boys in the act, and reported the matter to the police. Adekunle was said to have told the police that Harrison had the habit of sleeping with boys in the area.

When our correspondent visited the area on Friday, a police source said the two boys had been taken to the State Criminal Investigations Department, Yaba, adding that they would be charged to court soon.

At Ezeorji’s family apartment on Oladunjoye Street, Ikotun, his mother, Mrs. Chinyere Ezeorji, told Punch Metro that her son was a responsible boy who would never indulge in such an act. She added that he is still a virgin.

She said, “My son is just 14 years old. He does not do such things. He is not even mature yet. He takes his bath outside, some times in the presence of his sisters to tell you that he is young. His father had died in September this year, and we are yet to bury him. The family is still grieving him. All I know is that there is no truth in the allegation.

“I don’t know about the other man. I have not even met him. On the day of the alleged incident, my son had strolled to the motor park, and there was a street fight. My son then told me later on that he was simply watching the fight, and he had been arrested by the police.”

When our correspondent visited Adekunle’s house address on Ijegun Road, his neighbours said he was no longer living in the place as he had moved to an unknown place in Ikotun. All efforts to also locate Harrison’s house or his family for comment were unsuccessful as of the time of this report.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, while confirming the arrest of the boys, said the suspects had also been charged to court.

He said, “Yes, they were arrested by the Ikotun Police Division, and they have been charged to court. In law, this offence is called sodomy, and it carries with it about seven to 14 years imprisonment if found guilty, going by an Act of the National Assembly.

“You know, it is even against culture and religion. The Christian, Islamic and even the traditional religions condemn this in its entirety. So, the case has been taken to court.”

Why I wear same shirt everyday- Facebook owner, Mark Zuckerberg

In a public question and answer segment at the Facebook headquarters few days ago, Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, revealed why he wears the same shirt every day. The tech guru who wears the same brand of shirt to work, adorns same to any function irrespective of how important the event might be.

"I really want to clear my life so that I have to make as few decisions as possible about anything except how to best serve this community. I'm in this really lucky position where I get to wake up every day and help serve more than 1bn people, and I feel like I'm not doing my job if I spend any of my energy on things that are silly or frivolous about my life, so that way I can dedicate all of my energy towards just building the best products and services,” he said.

About being arrogant and acting like a terrible person

Well, everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. And you should also check those who claim I am a terrible person. I am not and my people know that.  Whatever any one feels,  he should not blame me for it. Everyone cannot like you; same as everyone cannot hate you. I am just being me and also being a good person. Fame has not changed me; it only added some accessories to my collections. People say I am arrogant and it does not bother me because I still show my fans love and they do same in return.

No ceasefire agreement yet with Boko Haram – FG

The Federal Government yesterday said it was yet to reach a ceasefire agreement with the Boko Haram sect.

NationalMirror reports that briefing State House correspondents after the Council of State meeting at the Presidential Villa, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio said that the National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) presented a report to the Council on the current war against the insurgents as well as efforts to rescue the Chibok girls abducted in April.
He said:

“The NSA was of the opinion that high level contact with the Republic of Chad was made and that some persons who acted on behalf of Boko Haram and who claimed tohave authority also had discussions with them and there are some Nigerian officials with them and of course, no agreement has been reached yet, it is just that the press probably misunderstood what was reported, the discussions are on-going.”
Akpabio noted that what came out of the NSA briefings was that the President would do everything possible to ensure the release of the Chibok schoolgirls and the protection of lives and property. That Council was satisfied that the defence ministry and all the security agencies have taken the right steps to combat insurgency in the country.

According to him, the Council urged Nigerians to be patient, stressing that the issue of insurgency could be easily resolved.

Surgeons pull live fish from man's intestine after his bizarre s*xual fantasy backfires

Wednesday, November 05, 2014

This is the revolting moment doctors pull a LIVE FISH from a man's intestine - after it had shot up his backside. According to Hospital Universitario in Londrina, a city in southern Brazil, the unnamed man decided to put the fish into his own rear as part of a bizarre s*xual fantasy.

Instead of being able to pull it out, the fish wriggled its way up into the gentleman's guts, passing a 'considerable way' before he sought medical help.

The fish was surgically removed by doctors who say they have "no idea" how the footage ended up being leaked onto social media.

However, the footage clearly shows many people standing in the background dressed in surgical gear and watching.

Several appear to have mobile telephones recording the incident.

Doctors can be heard laughing as the fish is surgically removed and one is heard to say: "This one is for the history", while another adds: "I have just sent the pic by mail."

The fish was apparently still alive after being removed but had to be euthanised.

The unidentified man from Londrina, who has recovered from the operation, has made a formal complaint via his solicitors about the fact that his rear end and the fish have now become viral sensations.

Boko Haram warns Christians to relocate or be killed

Members of the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, have instituted the Shara law in Mubi, Adamawa State, captured by the insurgents last week.
And according to Punch, advised all Christians in the Mubi Local Government Area to relocate to other areas except they were prepared to be islamised or be killed. The insurgents also amputated the hands of 10 residents said to have been found guilty of sundry offences, including looting of property
of fleeing residents.

Sources in Mubi town said they saw the terrorists parading 10 persons whose hands were said to have been amputated. The victims were said to have been amputated in the presence of residents the insurgents asked to converge to witness the enforcement of Sharia law. An eye witness account indicated that two imams were dragged out from a mosque and beheaded for allegedly preaching against Boko Haram.

The source further said that the Emir’s palace in Mubi had been converted to the residence of the ‘Amir’ and that the insurgents hoisted their flags to signify that they were in control of the palace.

PUNCH adds that the most affected by the development in Mubi were students of the Adamawa State University and the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi. The students were said to have gone through torture before some of them reportedly escaped through the border between Nigeria and Cameroun. Some of them were said to still be in the bush.

“I must give thanks and praises to God almighty for spearing my life; I saw as people were being slaughtered like goats. I am too happy to see myself alive,” a female student of the Federal Polytechnic, told Punch correspondent in Yola on Sunday.

The insurgents said their mode of prayer was different from what Muslims in the town were used to and that they were “in Mubi to restore Islamic independence to the people and anybody who does not follow us must be killed.”

“We are not to hurt anyone but to free the people from religious slavery,” a source quoted the insurgents to have said.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Zanna Mustapha, has said that the Federal Government needs to adopt more stringent measures against Boko Haram in the North-East.

Mustapha told journalists on Monday at the Government House, Yola, that the state governments of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe had raised the alarm over the future of their states as a result of rising occupation of towns and villages by Boko Haram.
